From Pinterest best practices for your service industry or coaching business to how to's that are guaranteed to make it simpler to show up on your business Pinterest to drive website traffic and maximize sales conversions.

What's in it for you?

Having a flourishing Pinterest business account translates to money in your pocket, no doubt about it. Take it from someone who has had pins go viral and viewed by 18,000 people, I had a fun quiz I made for couples bring over 600 new visitors to my site (it was six months after I first posted it), and I have had Pinterest use my pins inside larger guides for their audience which gave me what's called backlinks for my website and major rep with Google.

I book 15-20% of clients from Pinterest alone. It is NOT a social media platform, it's a cleverly disguised search engine. Which means, if you follow the rules, you will be successfully found by the right people!

Best practices for creating a new Pinterest account

Follow this checklist as you start a new Pinterest account for your coaching business:

  • Keep your Pinterest business account separate from personal. Perform no personal searches from your biz account.
  • Have a searchable, SEO optimized Name and BIO. My example for photo: Lena Christine | St. Augustine Wedding Photographer. My example for coaching: Lena Christine | Lazy Girl Coaching.
  • Claim your business website and IG - very important and verifies your identity, building trust and rapport with Pinterest.
  • Have a maximum of 15 Boards with at least 50 pins in each board. If a board is lacking content, marry the existing pins with another board. Do not delete pins that are not performing well. It takes a while sometimes for a pin to gain traction. Be patient.
  • Use optimized SEO rich board titles and descriptions. Ask chat GPT for help if you are struggling to come up with ideas. Check out this example:

  • Visit Pinterest Trends, see what is currently popular and mimic the top pins in the topics that come up.

  • Enable Rich Pins on the backend of your website so if anyone saves a pin from one of your blog posts, your important website information stays attached to it. This is good for visibility.
  • Turn on the Pin It Button on the backend of your website so anyone visiting your blog can easily save your pins, which spreads the word. Think of it as free advertising.

  • Make every pin design relative to your audience, and if your pin has text, then make sure it is a magnetic message that is easy to read. Keywords also work on pin graphics, because Pinterest can read them just like any other text on screen.
  • Size your graphics according to current Pinterest pin sizes and make sure that if you are using your images, they are first named, including keywords and the correct naming convention. Example: christmas-mini-family-photoshoot-in-little-tree-colorado.jpg.
  • Your Pin title and description should not be stuffy, but have multiple keywords. Here is an example for my photo business: Title: Elope in St. Augustine, FL | The Ultimate How to Guide; Description: Looking to elope in historic downtown St. Augustine? This is the only guide you will need! Pictured: Intimate Elopement Photography in St Augustine Florida. Wedding ceremony at the romantic Lightner Museum Courtyard, followed by cinematic editorial couples photos on the cobblestone streets. #engaged #staugustinephotographer #elopements. Here is an example for coaching: Title: Free guide to book dream clients as a successful business woman; Description: Successful business woman inspiration and motivation for female business owners in the coaching and service industry. Improve your business website to book more dream clients outside social media and become an empowered girl boss. #smallbusinesssetup #bestsmallbusinessideas #startabusiness #smallbusinessinspiration Girl Boss | Millionaire | Business Women | Entrepreneur | Powerful Women.
  • Feel free to include a clear CTA: “Read, Download, Save, Visit, Sign Up, Book”.
  • Post 10-15 pins a day to get major traction with Pinterest, especially when you are first starting out.

I know what you are thinking! How am I ever going to come up with that many pins??? I have a powerful strategy for you, my friend. You might want to save this blog post and visit it when you are ready to schedule. We will talk about scheduling your pins next.

Create 10 Pinterest pins in 10 minutes with this simple strategy

Here is how you can easily create 10 or more Pinterest pins quickly and with little overthinking:

Divide your audience into segments. I am going to give you mine right now.

My audience are females in business. So I have: mompreneurs, fempreneurs, women working from home, female entrepreneurs, girl bosses, service industry business owners, coaches, female leaders, femme industry experts, and female freelancers. To name ten!

Next, create one blog post that talks to all of them. Example: Pinterest best practices and killer tips for business gals.

Make ten pins for the same post but each talking to just one audience type. Change the graphic, colors and fonts (establish go-to templates in Canva to make this go FAST).

Here is a visual example!

Scheduling and a little help from my VA:

I recommend pre-scheduling your pins for at least two weeks or a month ahead, so you don't go crazy. You can pre-schedule for future publishing inside Pinterest itself. I recommend creating your pins in Canva and then simply adding the graphics, title, description, tags, and assigning it to a board. Then you can choose the 'publish at a later time' option.

This can be tedious. I have a subscription to Tailwind App and I do all my future pin scheduling through this app. It's quicker because you can batch your pins, and here is the kicker: Tailwind automatically decides the best time to post your pins for any given day of the month. This makes scheduling a breeze!

I will be totally honest with you. I have not personally touched my own Pinterest (for photography) in almost a year, because I have outsourced it to my virtual assistant. I tell her the blogs and landing pages I am looking to promote for the month and write the titles and descriptions. She chooses the best photos, resizes and renames them, uses my Canva templates to create collages, and then she pre-schedules them all with Tailwind. I quality check once she is finished by going to Pinterest and looking through drafts. Tailwind is directly connected to Pinterest. Voila! This saves me a few hours every month!

If you are intrigued (and also if you are thinking NO WAY can I afford a virtual assistant for my business right now), I want to share a big secret with you. My affordable VA is from the Philippines and because of the peso to dollar conversion, I am happy to say I save money while she receives her dream pay. It's a win-win! We have been working together for over two years now and it is the best business investment I have ever made. Best part: I teach you how to hire and train your own affordable overseas VA in this mini masterclass, which is also completely affordable. Check it out here and congratulations on gaining more time freedom and money back into your life!
